Nobody remembers their own best work

Most people only think about their resume when they are already late — a role closes Friday, and they are trying to reconstruct three years from a blank page and a vague sense that it went well. The specifics are gone. The numbers are gone. What is left is “led various initiatives,” which is what everybody writes and nobody believes.

The advice is to journal your accomplishments. Almost nobody does, because a blank document is not a habit and a spreadsheet is not a resume. So the record never gets written, and every job application, every performance review, and every salary conversation starts from scratch.

Three things Tootly does

Capture

Your work, recorded while you still remember it.

Log a win, a project, a milestone, or a lesson in seconds — type it or paste it. Already have a resume? Upload it and Tootly builds your timeline from it, dated to when things actually happened. From there, Tootly organises what you capture into structured capabilities: the real, transferable strengths behind the work, held in one place so nothing is lost between jobs or reviews.

Optional reminders nudge you to log something before you forget it. They are easy to turn off.

Analyze

A grounded read on where you stand.

  • Market Value Report — a metro-calibrated pay range for your role, anchored in real wage data
  • AI Exposure Analysis — how AI is changing your specific capabilities, scored across movement bands
  • Capabilities Benchmark — where you are strong and where you are light for the role you are in
  • Adjacency Map — roles you are already qualified for, with overlap scores
  • Target Role Roadmap — pick the role you want and get the gap plan to reach it
  • Role Fit Assessment — a fast verdict on whether a specific role is worth your application

Generate

Documents written from your record, not from a prompt.

  • Full resume, built from your timeline
  • Tailored resume, matched to a specific job posting
  • Cover letter, written for the role
  • Self-review, ready to paste into your company's performance form
  • Interview prep, tailored to the role you are chasing
  • LinkedIn About and Experience sections

Every document is grounded in what you actually did. Tootly does not invent experience you do not have.

  1. Start with what you already have

Upload your current resume. Tootly reads it, builds your timeline, and pulls out your capabilities — so you are not staring at an empty app.

  2. Add a win when it happens

Something goes well at work, you open Tootly and log it. Thirty seconds, not thirty minutes. That is the whole habit.

  3. Ask for what you need

A tailored resume for a role that just opened. A self-review the week it is due. A read on what you are worth. It is written from your record, so it is specific — and it takes about a minute.

No daily streaks. No blank pages. Your first 100 credits are on us, so you can see the whole loop before you decide anything.

Free to start, and free to stay

Tootly is free to download and free to use. Building your timeline, importing your resume, growing your capabilities, and exploring the app cost nothing at all.

Documents and reports use credits. You get 100 free credits when you sign up — enough to generate a full resume and a couple of tailored versions, or to run a Market Value Report and still have change. Nothing is charged for work you did not ask for.

When you need more, you can buy a credit pack, or subscribe to Pro for a credit allowance every billing period plus Pro-only extras. There is no free trial to forget about and no card required to start.

Purchases happen in the App Store, in the app. Current prices are shown there.

Frequently asked

Is my career history private?

Yes. Your timeline, your capabilities, and everything you generate are yours, tied to your account, and visible only to you. Tootly does not sell your data, does not share it with advertisers, and does not show it to recruiters or employers. There is no public profile and no social feed — Tootly is a private record, not a network.

We use a small number of service providers to run the app: Supabase for the database, Anthropic for AI processing, RevenueCat and Apple for subscriptions, and a privacy-safe analytics tool that records which features are used but never the content of what you write. They are all named in our Privacy Policy.

Is my data used to train AI models?

No.

When you generate a document or run a report, the relevant parts of your record are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to do the writing. Under Anthropic's API terms, content sent that way is not used to train their models. We do not train models on your data either — we have no model of our own, and your career history is not a training set.

Our own product analytics are built to the same rule: they record that a report was generated, never what was in it. No document content, no extracted text, not even your filenames.

Do I have to journal every day?

No, and please don't try. Tootly is built for a monthly-to-quarterly rhythm, not a daily streak. Most people open it when something happens at work, log it in half a minute, and close it again. Reminders are optional and easy to switch off.

The point is not the habit. The point is that when a role opens on a Friday or a self-review lands in your inbox, the raw material is already there.

Does Tootly work outside the United States?

Partly, and we would rather tell you than have you find out after downloading.

Capture, capabilities, resumes, cover letters, self-reviews, interview prep and LinkedIn sections work anywhere — they are built from your own record.

The reports that quote money and occupation data are anchored in United States public datasets (BLS OEWS wage data and the U.S. Department of Labor's O*NET occupation database) and are calibrated to U.S. metro areas. If you work outside the U.S., treat those figures as a U.S. reference point, not as your local market. International wage data is something we would like to add; it is not in the product today.

What does Tootly cost?

Downloading and using Tootly is free, and staying on the free tier is fine. Your timeline, your capabilities, and exploring the app cost nothing.

Documents and reports use credits, and you get 100 free credits when you sign up — enough to build a full resume and tailor it a couple of times, or to run a Market Value Report with change left over. Nothing is charged for work you did not ask for.

If you want more, you can buy a one-time credit pack or subscribe to Pro, which includes a credit allowance each billing period. There is no free trial that quietly starts charging you, and no card is needed to start. All purchases happen through the App Store — current prices are shown there.

Will Tootly invent things about my career?

No. That is the entire design constraint.

Every document Tootly writes is built from what you logged — your roles, your capabilities, the wins you recorded. It rewords and structures your work for a specific audience; it does not add achievements you never had, employers you never worked for, or numbers you never reported. If your record is thin, the resume is honest about being thin, and Tootly will tell you to go capture more rather than filling the gap with fiction.

The reports work the same way. Where a figure is an estimate from public wage data, Tootly labels it as an estimate and shows you how it was derived.

Can I delete my account and everything in it?

Yes, from inside the app, without emailing anyone or waiting on us — Account → Delete account. If you cannot get into the app, our Delete Account page explains the other route.

One thing worth knowing before you do it: deleting your Tootly account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Apple owns that, and you cancel it in iPhone Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions.
